strumento musicaleIranian music instrument quite common in Central Asia and Western China, its name means literally “string” so it’s related to all those instrument who share this suffix (just like dutar, setar and indian sitar). The tar is a long necked lute with 6 strings, featuring mobile frets and a 8 shaped sounding board. This one is obtained from mulberry wood and covered with parchment or fish skin. Its string are disposed in 3 pairs and they are plucked with a plectrum.
