Myths and Traditions

WEDDING
Among traditional celebrations wedding represents the main circumstance for country people, and for urban makhallà communities too, to take part to a joyful event. People use to celebrate weddings singing and dancing, to accompany the merry situation. Going on, some fixed choreographies have been drawn to describe the crucial steps of the event: starting with the bride’s dressing and the girl’s gathering, going on with the man and wife’s proceeding under a drape, the symbol of their union and house, concluding with friends’ joyful songs and dances. During Soviet Union the original character of islamic folk celebration was lightly modified: the traditional use of a secular celebration of youth, couple and community was preserved, together with ancient colours and folk melodies.
