A DELICATE SPRINGTIME APPEAL

Rohat is called the joy dance of Ferghana. It is a very harmonious and well balanced dance, according to youth, feminine charm and springtime atmosphere. Rohat is a plain lyrical dance accompanied by chang, dutàr and gidjiàk The dancer’s moving is inspired to the mild atmosphere of Navruz, the springtime beginning. The arms’ and hands’ gestures imitate nature’s rebirthing, when flowers blossom and birds fly again in the sky. Every gesture is well controlled and balanced and the ciark (circle) geometrical figure is suggested, time after time, according to the universe harmony. The dancer’s body adavances lightly, while her feets describe small circles. It looks walking on the water, whole weightless.
